| PAESTUM AND MOZZARELLA FARM | NADE07 | ||
![]() Living your accomodation and driving south, along the Amalfi coast, you'll reach the archaeological site of Paestum, once called Poseidonia, with its ancient Greek temples that date back to the 6th century BC, set against the dark brown hills and deep blue sea, provides a uniquely Greek experience in Italy. The temple of Hera II (once believed to be the Temple of Poseidon ) is one of three temples. (See also the temple of Hera I) Part of the interior is a colonnade with two rows of columns, including the superimposed upper level that supported the roof, therefore illustrates the standard Doric form: 6 columns on the end and 14 columns on the side. We suggest to hiring a 2-hour local guide for the sites and visit an archaeological museum in the vicinity, with a rich collection of Greek art and antiquities. After the visit of Paestum , we'll take you to visit a buffalo mozzarella factory, where the most prized of all Campanian cheeses is produced by skilled hands according to centuries-old traditions. Amazingly, there are no machines in this organic dairy. Here on the Sele Plain, where the famed Doric temples of Paestum sit, the buffalo continue to flourish in this hospitable environment as they have since the seventh-century. The mozzarella produced from the milk of these buffalo is recognized as some of the finest in Italy. In the late afternoon, return to your accomodation.
